European Gay Ski Week 2016: only 3 weeks left! I can’t wait!
I have taken part to my first European Gay Ski Week ever 3 years ago… and I loved it!
I have to be completely honest: I didn’t go for the slopes! I actually didn’t ski at all! I went for the fun, the atmosphere, the parties, and I was very happy to be part of it: I met so many new friends!
This year the European Gay Ski Week takes place at Avoriaz, in France (not far from Geneva), 19th to 26th March. According to Lonely Planet Avoriaz is one of the best ski resorts in France!
I heard the location is breath taking! Avoriaz resort is situated at the centre of the Portes du Soleil, within the Chablais region of the Haute-Savoie (Alta Savoia), perched high on a rocky promontory it looks down over the cliff edge towards Morzine and beyond… I am really looking forward to exploring the amazing area!
The streets are ski runs, the taxis are horse-drawn sleighs (how romantic!) and all accommodation has direct access to the slopes, so most of the accommodation is quite literally, ski in ski out.
Are you curious about how a typical day at the European Gay Ski Week looks like? Here you go!
In the early morning (well, how early depends on how late you went to bed the night before and how much alcohol you ingested!) after breakfast, you can either join ski classes (there are different levels organized, according to your preparation) or hit the slopes (I am talking about ski slopes!) either with other groups or your bunch of friends.
At lunch there are lunch meetings organized with other ski groups in different places along the slopes, just before the afternoon session on the slopes.
Every day, from 4pm until 7pm, Avoriaz is taken by storm by the Aprés Ski: amazing music from the best European Djs (from London, Ibiza, France…) plus the animation of the craziest performers and the EGSW Animations Crew!
Free time for dinner… but soon after the cabaret nights take place. Around 22 the crazy parties start! This year, as usual, the European Gay Ski Week features at least one big party per night!
