Gili Air: a Paradise on earth!
I had such a great time on the beautiful island of Gili Air! I enjoyed spending my day just doing just what I like to do the most, which is chillaxing
This is how my typical day on the island looked like. As soon as I woke up, after a refreshing calm night sleep, some fresh water on my face, just a bit of fruit to break the night fast, I was out for a good 1 hour jogging around the island before the heat hit too strongly (the island is very small, so in less than one hour you have been running all around it). Soon after, a refreshing shower in my open air shower overlooking the ocean! a super powered breakfast soon after; a refreshing dip into the ocean; relaxing on the beach; plenty of coffee and fresh fruits during the day; drinks at sunset (on the sunset beach of course!); beautiful dinners with fresh fish; and more drinks and good music after dinner.
This is life, isn’t it? I was not lucky with the weather: I visited in December, when the Monsoon storms hit very strongly the area, so I did not enjoy very much the underwater life. I did some snorkeling, but in all honesty I did not have much luck! Although the area, in the period between May and September, is said to be full of good surprises for the lovers of the underwater world. And also an excellent diving site. If you are around, check out the Scallywags Divers, which have a PADI scuba dive center right on Gili Air. Also, you can enjoy great time on their beach, one of the most beautiful area of the island!
Where to stay in Gili Air? I treated myself! I chose a very nice resort by the beach, with a nice swimming pool too! Hotel Villa Karang, which I definitely recommend: friendly staff, amazing food, stunning location!
Gili Air is such a small island you can enjoy both a beautiful sunset and sunrise over the sea! One of my favourite place for sunset is the Bar of the Grand Sunset Hotel (as you can guess from its name, right on the beautiful sunset beach). On the same side, not far from the hotel, you must check out Pura Vida, a bar, cafe, restaurant which features live music nights from time to time. If you miss Italian food, worries not! Enjoy an amazing pizza at Classico Italiano: it made me feel home!
Does Gili Air sound like your kind of Paradise too? I will be more than happy to help you plan your next holidays on the Gili islands. Just get in touch and let me be your personal gay concierge!
