Madrid: Champions City!
Champions League 2016: the final will be disputed among the two main teams of the city, Atletico and Real! Yes Madrid is once again a Champions city!
The city is proud of it! And it loves to show it!
Yesterday afternoon the Comunidad de Madrid decided to show its support to the two Madrid teams in the most famous and touristic square of the city, Puerta del Sol!
Puerta del Sol hosts the Real Palacio de Correos, the seat of the Comunidad de Madrid, the government of the region. The facade of this majestic building now features the two big shields of the two city teams!
Spain is well known worldwide for being ace at football! In the last few years Spain teams have won almost everything in football competitions (European and World Cups above all) so it is not surprising the story repeats itself…
This is not the first time the two main Madrid football teams fight in the final of Champions League: it happened already just 2 years ago, in 2014. That was the first final in the history of the competition featuring two teams from the same city!
In 2014 the winner was Real Madrid, 4-1. What will happen this time? Feel free to write your bet in the comments
I am so happy to visit this gorgeous city in this beautiful time of the year! I lived here for a couple of years (2010 and 2011) and I am in love with Madrid!
This is really the Champions city of Spain! I still remember the big street party Madrid threw to celebrate the 2010 World Champion cup victory! All the city was along the streets wearing red (the colour of the Spanish football national shirts, la Roja) to celebrate the new World Champions!
The Spanish really know how to party and have fun! And they are champions in celebrating… Shame I won’t be here on the 28th May, when the historical match takes place (in Milan)! I am going to miss another big street party for sure.. And you? Planning to visit Madrid?
