As you already know, I spent an amazing Thanksgiving in Puglia. Paul and Steven, a lovely couple, invited me to spend a few days in their amazing masseria in the countryside. The surrounding is breathtaking: Villa Cappelli is a beautiful and cozy house immersed in a green heaven!
What is a masseria? It is a massive structure, up to less than a century ago used as a farm, and inhabited by families of farmers and ranchers. Throughout all the region of Puglia there is plenty of these structures in the countryside: many of them have been now restored to the highest standards. As a result, they now host guests from all over the world who want to live an authentic natural Apulian lifestyle without renouncing to luxury.
Paul is 100% Italian: although his family is originally from Puglia, he was born in Pisa, Tuscany. When he was 8, he emigrated to the States with his family. Paul and Steven met in New York 21 years ago (can you believe it?!). Since they were tired of the corporate American life they decided to follow Paul’s roots and to move back to Puglia: they bought an ancient farm, restored it… and the result is stunning. Take a look at the video of the process of restoration!
Villa Cappelli is a dream come true. The property dates back to the 6th century: it maintains much of the original architecture, although the owners refurbished it with high quality modern comforts such as modern shower rooms. Paul and Steve have also recently finished the restoration of the beautiful and huge vaulted-ceiling stable: it is now a great hall, where we celebrated Thanksgiving.
The owners work and live in this fairy-tale place. In their big garden they grow olives, fruit, wine and much more! They produce for their guests and their own consumption. Most noteworthy, they also have a very succesfull e-commerce website, through which they ship their products worldwide.
To stay in Paul Cappelli’s Villa is an unforgettable experience! Paul and Steven are a discrete presence, ready to greet you warmly and make you feel home. They live in a private apartment on the ground floor of this gigantic Villa, but you never really feel their presence.
Guests are welcome to stay in the rooms upstairs in of the 10 guest rooms. Yes, parties of up to 22 people can comfortably organize an amazing stay altogether in the Villa.
Each of the rooms has a different unique style. As a real Princess, I was welcome to stay into the Princess Room, with an amazing view over the back garden with the olive grooves. The bed was soooo comfy! I loved every minute of it, as you can see 😉
The location of Villa Cappelli is strategic: less than 30 km north of Bari and its airport, from here you can easily reach many beautiful attractions of Puglia. In only 30 minutes can get to Castel Del Monte, or Trani, where to fall in love with its romantic cathedral overlooking the ocean.
Paul and Steve own 3 big dogs and countless kittens (I have lost count at 20!). Villa Cappelli is on the Appian way and there is plenty to do in the area. If you are a sporty type, you should choose this place as the perfect starting point for a good run or bike in the countryside. What a better start to your day than jogging in the nature?
Do I really need to say anything more about this enchanted masseria in Puglia? Yes! I need to thank Paul, Steven and their family for this amazing weekend and I am really looking forward to seeing you again soon! And you guys, don’t think twice! Let me know if I can help you book an unforgettable dream holidays in Villa Cappelli!
